Maryland Digestive Disease Research - (MDDR)

Maureen Bates (left) and Meg Gordon (right) have been registered nurses for over 20 years. They are certified in the field of Gastroenterology and in Research.


Meg has been with Maryland Digestive Disease since 1994 and Maureen joined us in 2001.

Directions

The physicians are board certified Gastroenterologists with active clinical practices. The goal of MDDR is to avail our patients with the newest cutting edge therapies for digestive diseases. There are 5 physicians currently serving as investigators for clinical research trials in Gl related diseases. Dr. Richard Chasen serves as the director of MDDR and has over 10 years of research experience.

RESEARCH

Current/Enrolling Studies

  1. UC Mild-Mod- using once daily Mesalamine – Shire
  2. Crohn’s Mod-Severe- using monthly infusions of Abatacept (new co-stimulation modulators.  Trade name is Orencia FDA approved for RA – Bristol Myers Squibb
  3. IBS and Constipation and Diarrhea/Alternator Study
  4. UC Mod-Severe- Centocor using injectable vs infusions of fully humanized Anti-TNF.
  5. NSAID Ulcer Prevention Study- Naproxen + Nexium
  6. Hep C- Naïve and nonrespondent
